Michel Francois
Introduction

Those who have that ‘gut feeling’ or, an extraordinary
sensitivity, find themselves in the realm of Simplicity itself
which one can call ‘illumination’ or, ‘total awareness’.
It does  not require any explanation for….it is there!

A rebel in search of the truth, Michel François immerses himself from an early age in the works of the Great Thinkers and their approach to the meaning of existence.

Camus’s understanding  of the Absurd as the ‘first truth’, intrigues him and the concept of Life’s futility as portrayed in Camus’s essay ‘The Myth of Sisyphus’ is a platform from which Michel François’ writing springs (the Absurd Hero ©)

He sees his life ‘outside the cage’ of convention and defiantly goes beyond whatever bounds are set in a rasorial romp for literary adventure

Michel François, award-winning poet, philosopher, writer and former actor was born in Paris in 1943 to a Parisian Mother, and a Father of Russian descent.

Michel Francois

He studies Modern Languages, French Literature,Psychology and Philosophy in Paris, which in the 1960’s plays a dominant centre for literature, politics and  new age thinking. Like many of his contemporaries he soon becomes caught up in the wave of existentialism and intellectual freedom of thought.

One of his most traumatic experiences occurs during the mandatory service in the Army in the l960’s when stationed overseas, he is deeply disturbed by Man’s ability to wreak harm over one another for the sake of ‘a better world’!

At the age of 22 and in Paris, Françoise d’Eaubonne, established writer and literary critic, takes him ‘under her wing’and he completes in 1966 his first novel, ‘Les Mots de Tête' © (Mind Words)

Destiny takes a sharp turn when, one evening in the popular ‘Café de Paris’, well known watering hole for actors and producers in Paris, a friend introduces him to Max Pecas, the Film Director who offers him a part in his new movie which, Michel François accepts.
This becomes a gateway to future roles which takes him not only in France with ‘La Douce Violence’ starring Elke Sommer, but also to Rome and eventually to Hollywood, starring in TV Productions and films, including Al Pacino’s ‘Scarface’.

Life as an actor does not bring total fulfillment to Michel François and his aspirations though it does provide both serious and amusing material for his screen plays, lectures and literary work.

Whatever presents itself to us does not really
Start to exist ‘till one experiences it’
Tout ce qui se présente à nous ne commence vraiment à exister qu’au moment ou nous l'éprouvons

In 2003 he decides it is time to return to Europe and, meeting a wonderful lady decides to settle in England where he enjoys to this day the richness of local culture and language.

He writes in both French and English and, when asked:
in which language do you dream’? the answer is both and sometimes simultaneously’?

He translates his original French Poems
into English for the first time with
R Freidman and this second collection
Second Rain’ (Seconde Pluie) © -
a dual language limited edition,
makes its debut soon afterwards
at the London Book Fair 2007

What is it all about?’ remains for him the vital question
with a continuous challenge of the mind:
this indeterminable energy.

‘the mind plays tricks on one’s sanity diverting the ability
to rationalise.
We are ourselves but a collection of experiences and,
Through poetry, one can ‘dream the dream’
